Finding X was an academic video game I designed to help students in the middle school range grasp the concepts of algebraic equations, using several academic learning principles to justify my design. The game focused on completing the steps of an equation including the answer its self to reveal hints at to where “X” is hiding amongst the shapes. When the player believes they know where X is then they can click the shape and see if they are correct.
Along with a GDD the project also called for an academic research paper with the incorporation and justification for our game, which both are listed below.
