One Shot was the name of a game I lead, design and create for my final year at the University of Baltimore. My group consisted of five people and we were given a year to design and create a game of our own ideas with the only restrictions being our abilities. As leader of the group my responsibilities involved archiving, scheduling and presentation creation for the group. Additionally I participated a lot in the design aspects of the project and created all character and main environment models and animations. Along with bi weekly milestones that we had to hit and present on I have to say it felt good doing a large amount of work and seeing it come to fruition. If you check out the 3d modeling page the characters and animations are outlined there.
The final game was a side scrolling shooter, with the players goal of reaching the boss of the level and defeating them. Along the way players could collected one shot energy that after all of it has been collected in the level the player may one shot the boss of that level once the fight starts. The plan was for this side objective to obtain the one shot energy was to entice the player into exploring the game world and taking some risks as a way of diversifying the games repetitive nature. Unfortunately we fell short with time and lack of knowledge to the point the system was not fully implemented so the game we presented, although the feature was noted, players found themselves moving through the levels to the boss fights.
I do want to mention we had three unique bosses though, each with its own set of moves and mechanic to give the player a challenge. These primarily came in the form of enrage features such has faster attacks or even additional attacks as the player progressed through the level. Now the final presentation for the project involved the making of a video basically a small trailer which I had help making to meet deadlines and yes that is me narrating it. (The video was compressed to be able to fit on the site and its quality is suppose to be much higher.)
